Poem 54 - Cold Frost

The cold chill made my bones freeze
I put on my gloves and sweater
There was a very, very strong breeze
Warm Clothes made me feel better

My teeth chattered all the time
Making a very funny sound
It was like making sounds rhyme
Very cold is the marble ground

Fast I put my slippers on
Makes me feel much more better
Covered with snow is my lawn
Warm I am coz' of my sweater
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 53 - New Years eve

This year is completely new
For all including me and you
Leave all your worries behind
Only good things you should find

May this new year be fantastic
Good habits you should pick
On this new year's eve
Tensions you should leave

Happy New Year To All My Friends And Family Members

Poem 52 - A Tree's Life

Well here I am a little tree
In my shade you can rest for free
Travelers sit under me to rest
On my branches birds make many a nest

Many people pluck fruits from me
Sometimes I care but I let them be
After all everything is free
and it makes the people happy

But today was a strange day
No longer children came to play
Only one boy came and buckled his shoe
But after that he angrily went too

It was then I realized it is autumn
Day by day leaves are leaving me glum
After all they fall onto the ground
Without telling me, without making a sound

And to make matters worse
A woodcutter drove a wedge into me
I am sure on me somebody has put a curse
Because if I had evaded the attack I could be free

In a few weeks I'll be cut
Maybe into small pieces of wood
Maybe to build a hut
But I will be gone for good

Poem 51 - A boys first day of school

Using the comb he brushed his hair back
And once again he checked his back pack
Making sure all the books were in there
He closed the bag's zip with lots of care

Who wouldn't on their first day of school?
After all all of us just wanted to look cool
He made sure his shoelace was alright
And he made his belt a bit more tight

He tried not to get into a fight
And to the teachers he was polite
He became the teacher's favorite
Not only a little but every bit

That is how a school boy should be
Not badly behaving like me
And this boy was my other brother
The younger son of my kind mother

Poem 50 - My Class Teacher

(To Lakshmi Ma'am)

My class teacher
Is not a cheater
She is surely and surely the best
She can bring a good boy out of a pest

She is very, very kind
and she always uses her mind
When we play she has no objection
Actually with us she too has fun

She educates us well
About hearing, about smell
She plays and laughs with me
whenever she is free

But when she is teaching there is always silence
All children will be writing down notes with their pens
She is the one who can handle a class
And she keeps it clean as a window glass
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 49- It's almost Christmas

I stepped out of my house in delight
Everything had become white
Yes, you are right it is snow
It is everywhere high and low

Oh Yes! It is December
It is now that I remember
For a Walk I need to go
In the neighborhood to see the snow

Oh! Every house looks warm
Even the little farm
Each house has a Christmas tree
Decorated completely

In each house there is a small little light
It makes the whole house bright
It reminded me of Christmas
So I didn't make any more fuss

I went back home very, very happy
Remembering to decorate my Christmas tree
And now it is decorated
And my house is also lighted

Poem 48- Spend time with your friends

In life sometimes comes a point
With friends you no longer can be joint
In life comes a sudden bend
when you realize you have no friend

When the school you have to change
I know you just feel strange
It is a totally unexpected turn
from which a lesson you should learn

That friend's can't be their always
They maybe there only for a few days
With your friends a lot of time you should spend
Before comes the totally unexpected bend

Poem 47-A Judge's Death

Into his room went the tired old Judge
Preparing for many a case
Outside in the hall he heard something budge
Under blankets he hid his face

It was already Nightfall
When the judge heard a scream
For help he heard somebody call
He wished it was a dream

For Safety he shut the room door
and all the open windows
Trembling he sat on the floor
But later what happened nobody knows

He was found dead
A knife in his throat
Stains were on his bed
and on his black coat

Maybe it was Suicide
or maybe murder
But he surely died
And he left in this year

Poem 46- Sister's birthday poem

(This poem is dedicated to my sister who's birthday is today, Dec 3)

My silly big sis
Doesn't like my wet sticky kiss
With her I love to fight
What! With her I should be polite?

Being sister and brother
We love one another
The fights we usually forget
But after forgiving I do regret

She might be turning fifteen
But she is very, very mean
But she can also be fun
So she is a sister like none

She is only mine
And she is just fine
HAPPY B'DAY to you
Hope your life feels new
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 45- Father's Birthday poem

(This poem is dedicated to my father who's birthday was on Dec 1)

I love you dad
You never let me be sad
You are very rare
You taught me how to share

Father I love you
And I know you love me too
Even if I get a scare
of me you take care

You have taken me everywhere
To the market to the fair
So today I thank you
for making my life feel new

You have given me everything
Which makes me feel like a king
So today I wish you a happy birthday
This long back I did have to say

You always play with me
Together we have fun
Together we've climbed a tree
and played a lot in the sun

Near me you always are
Together we make a team
From me you never go far
Well to me like that it does seem

Poem 44- The moon desire

I wish I could see the moon
I know you will think this is strange
I want to see it at noon
It should be in my touching range

The moon I wish I could touch and feel
The moon is the thing on which I shall be
On the moon I wish I could have a meal
and maybe supper and some tea

Everyday the moon bobs at night
It feels shy to come in the day
Maybe the sun gives it a fright
And very far it does stay

At night the moon scares the sun
and the sun goes in hiding
At that time the moon has fun
Until the sun comes to give the moon a thrashing

Poem 43-Going to a desert

When I was in the middle of the desert
I realized that water was very less
Of this I became very alert
Because if I wasn't I would fall in a mess

When I wanted to quench my thirst
I would tell myself NO NO!
I should keep it for the worst
as water was very low

Riding on the camel was a big pain
Because it was the first time I was riding
For the first time I wished that it would rain
So that I could go along while drinking

At last I saw a oasis
So I finished my last bottle in a hurry
I thought this was a bliss
But later I got such fury

A mirage it had been
I almost fainted
Oh! What had I seen
Now in a few hours I might be dead

But as it grew darker
My village I could see
I went to a shop and drank water
Oh! Thank you God for saving me

Poem 42- Bad Man

He smoked a cigar
and I saw him going to the bar
He is a bad man people said
the street is his house and bed

Even though he is a beggar
about his life he has no fear
He tells he wants to die
nobody knows why

On my way
I see him every day
that man is sometimes funny
he asks me for money

That man though bad
must also be mad
to ask money from a child
Isn't he wild?
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 41- Lovely Twilight

It's just about to be twilight
today everything went right
there was not even a minor fight
and even I was very polite

The sun too looks very lovely
I look at it and it looks at me
Today the sun's each ray
Is going towards the correct way

Just look at the beautiful sunset
I wish I could capture it using a net
and just look at the lovely sun
I want to dance and have some fun

Though I feel a bit shy
To you now I say good bye
Because I'll go and see some more of the sight
and see the suns beautiful glowing light
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 40- Fight Global Warming

All of us have got a warning
That Earth is getting hot
It is Global Warming
and then Earth will rot

There won't be a bit of green
My Oh My!
Plants won't be seen
because all of us will die

Where once life had met
will completely have been gone
there will be no blue planet
and nobody will see twilight or dawn

We should work very fast
we should be active
we should make the future to past
only then can we live
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 39- Fat cat

My cat gained lots of weight
By eating lots of junk food
Fat is my cats state
and he does not look good

My pet is very fat
He refuses to become thin
My dear cat
will burst if poked with a pin

All day he will only eat
or only sleep
let it be cat food or meat
he will never weep

One day I got a shock
Now you will know what I saw
It could not walk
In-fact it could not lift even a paw

I forcefully made him thin
now he is in correct size
So that he won't burst out of his skin
I made him exercise

Poem 38- The lost key

I saw a key in the hot desert sand
To pick it up down went my hand
The key I was about to pick
When on my back I felt a hard kick

When I turned a man was looking at me
He said' That key holds my name can't you see?'
I picked it up and gave it to the man
He took it and then he ran

At once I realized he might be a robber
and not the key's owner
I felt like I was running in a race
because from that minute on was the chase

The man had a head start
'But don't give up' said my mind and heart
The man was too fast for me
And so he ran with the key

Poem 37- Night Fright

One very dark night
When Earth was lit by the moon
I thought everything was going right
But I said this too soon

I could not sleep a wink
So I switched on the light
At that time I heard a clink!
So I closed the light in Fright

I heard something fall
I thought it was a thief
It came from the hall
but that did not give me any relief

I cautiously opened the room's door
getting scared even more
To the hall I ran and ran
Hoping that on me won't pounce a man

But once there what a shock I got
A thief it was not
It was only my pet cat
chasing a baby rat

After counting sheep
I did fall asleep
In the morning I went to my cat
And gave it a pat

So that very night
Not everything went right
This funny incident
Into the family history it went

It is almost forgotten
by every person
But this night which was moonlit
I still remember it

Poem 36- One little bird

One hot morning
I heard the birds sing
and then I saw them fly
very very high

They flew into the sky
to fly I would love to try
this is not a lie
but i really want to fly

Oh! But there is one little bird
it seems to be injured
i heard it cry
as it tried to fly

I thought I'll take it to my hut
so that I can plaster it's cut
But what if I do not?
It might die in the hot

But how will I catch the bird
I really wondered
At that time it flew
But believe me this story is true

Poem 35- Faith in God

In God we must believe
from morning to eve
When you are in danger
absolutely have no fear

God is there everywhere
over here and over there
If you want God in your heart
This is how you must start

All you should do is pray
In your heart God will longer stay
Every problem of yours God will share
He will come to you without turning a hair

Once I had to go to an examination
Very late I had reached the station
But God had stopped the train
by pouring down unexpected rain

Another time I had lost my way
And to God I did pray
When I was crying in pain
God put me on the correct lane

Poem 34-Monuments around the world

The leaning tower of Pisa
and the pyramids of Giza
All these monuments are very great
Places you'll like and not hate

The long amazon river
And the tall Eiffel tower
are places that I would like to see
Places that I'll see with glee

So one day when I am free
I'll go to the places not seen by me
and a few other places too
but for me everything i see will be new
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 33-Messy room

Your room is in a mess
In every place is scattered a book or a dress
You go and clean it at once
or for tea you wont get buns

My mom was in a fit
I knew now I had to clean it
I picked up every dress and book
and made sure I cleaned every nook
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 32- Oliver Twist

I pulled my hat a bit more down
'course I had to in this hot town
'Ay 'Ay I was carryin' a heavy sack
And now I had grazed my back

Now of the days I have lost track
From the day I knew what was a whack
They taught a scared old boy who is nine
yes they taught me how to steal somethin' thats not mine

Yes this is the life of Oliver Twist
To live in the hot or to live in a mist
From the theft school now he had run away
Here he is now walking in the hot sun of may

Poem 31-The lost kid

Around the streets wandered the boy
Carrying his only thing, a small toy
Crying and not knowing what to do
I am sure the little boy wished this was not true

After some time he came and asked me
'My father did you see'?
I held his hands and said No
and the boy started crying in woe

At that time he pushed my hands and ran
and ran and ran to a man
The man his father took him to a car
and both of them went very very far
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 30-Park eve

In the beautiful light of the eve
I saw many people leave
The park in front of my home
where i go and freely roam

A place where I love to sit
A place that keeps me fit
To reach there I usually race
Of course my favorite place

Whether it is light or dark
I simply love that park
That is the best place I have seen
The best place to where I have been
- Gaurang Rao

Poem 29- Funny night

It was very dark
When I heard my dog bark
I thought somebody was in my house
or was it just a mouse

I tiptoed to the hall
where i tripped over a ball
When I thought I was gone
The lights flashed on

I almost jumped out of my skin
and wobbling was my chin
I thought I'll be shot
But what a shock I got

It was only my mother
Who had come to drink water
so my folk
wasn't this a joke?
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 28- Exams october

Poem 27-School again

The excellent holidays end here
And school days have come near
I hate waiting in the morning traffic
For the school which I reach very quick

Have to study every minute
To become a doctor or a pilot
I wish Biology and physics
were easy as breaking sticks

Then I shan't mind the thing called school
Where you are not allowed to break even one rule
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 26 - Trouble

Trouble... trouble... trouble.
By minute it is getting double
So much holiday homework to do
I wish this was not true

Oh no! school starts tomorrow
I said with lots of sorrow
So i'd Better do my homework
Other wise i'll look like a jerk
Nor do I want to be looking like some silly nerd
But I don't want to look like I have a brain of a bird

Poem 25-Insects

insects are very small,
so small they can cling to a wall
grasshoppers,lizards and spiders
are very good hiders.

smaller insects like termites and ants,
are so small, they can hide under plants.
they mean no harm, even in a farm.
they just want a home,
where they can freely roam.

so let us not kill insects
and think too are gods pets

Poem 24-On a Bus...

Once on the way to Bangalore

about my nice vacation
which I was enjoying in my nation

down poured the rain
while running I lost my way

I soon remembered the way
and no longer there did I stay

but who will give it to me?
So that to the moon I can flee

Fold in Bathroom

This incident took place when I was 5 years old. I had learned how to fold my bed cover. One day me and my sister were folding our bed covers at the same time, as our room was quite small there was not too much of space to stand and fold. I got angry and went to the bathroom and folded it there. I didn’t know I should not do it in the bathroom. My parents and sister had a hearty laugh at this incident. Later when I was a bit older I realized what I had done. I still feel ashamed of myself of doing such a thing.

Riddle 1 - Which game?

This game is played with a heavy ball and a stick
It is not a game where you can freely kick
When you put the ball into the hole
It is like you have scored a goal

You cannot put the ball into water or sand
At least it should fall on a patch of green land
What is the game?
Write down the name.

Poem 20-

Summer Holidays - 2010

I am starting to feel very excited, only a few days more and my summer holidays start!!
Going back to India visiting my relatives and playing with my friends and cousins.
Won't that be fun? Just imagine, two whole months of fun. Have to keep in touch with studies though. The sad part is that there is LOTS of holiday homework which I will have to do when I am in India. Anyways can't wait for the school to close. It closes on July 8th and reopens on September 14th.

Thank you trees that give me food

Thank you water because of which we live
Thank you God for all you give
Thank you my loving Earth
After all you are the place all of us got birth

Poem 18-East or West Home is the best

I love my home
where I can freely roam
Where I can run and play
throughout the day

It is not like school
where you cannot act like a fool
A place where you can dance and sing
And eat like a king

East or West
home is the best
Nothing better than my house
where my mother catches a mouse

Poem 14- Day by Day Getting Worse (Earth)

Poem 11-Save Earth

Why was Earth created
It has only heated
We could have kept it cool
But even I was a fool

My dear mate
Is it too late
for the Earth to be saved?
where I have played

Like thunder we must stop
the little water drop
and even a tree
Yes, You and Me

We have to reunite
So that together we can fight
against pollution
as it is the only solution
-Gaurang Rao

Poem 10- Friends

Poem 9- Kitchen

My mother works in the kitchen everyday
Let it be in June, July or May

She washes forks and spoons
some with designs as moons
- Gaurang Rao

Poem 7-Activity Day
