Poem 280 - Escapist

Image from Magpie Tales

To escape from this world, he looks in his map
He can't go somewhere far, has to be close
He sat under a tree, removed his cap
In confusion, he knitted his eyebrows
On leave he was, all alone, but glad
Job too tiring, now he needed a break
All office tension used to make him mad
Time off - dream from which he didn't want to wake
So there he was, at his map - staring
Confusion of where to go, but still happy
Some hiking clothes and shoes he was wearing
For the first time, he himself felt so free
Oh! Escapist enjoy your holidays
You can't escape for long now, anyways
¬Gaurang Rao

  1. Sometimes escapes don't need to be distant ones. Time off from work can sometimes be all that one needs!

  2. There is nothing like a nice holiday .. away from work .. to bring back the spark in life! I like this.

  3. Delightful, Gaurang...well done!

  4. Nothing like a little getaway!

  5. A little stint away from work can go a long way! You enjoy it and come back fresh. Nicely Gaurang!

  6. We all wish to escape and yet fail to do so. Or never hear back from thos ewho succeed perhaps.

  7. A lovely poem, Gaurang. I enjoyed reading it, thank you.

  8. Oh, but may he make his escape last for as long as he can.

  9. Wonderfully written, Gaurang - enjoyed reading it

  10. Hmm, yeah sometimes such events happen unfortunately.
