Poem 299 - Little Steps

Image link here

She took her first step ever, with a bright little giggle
On her tiny little toes, she gave him a small wiggle
As she stumbled, he caught her firmly mid air
Smiling at his daughter, he patted her with care

For with a single step, her journey had begun
She escaped from his hands, ready to run
But was picked up as soon as she tried
As he slowly tickled her, she squealed in delight

She pinched his hand, and he gave her a deep frown
She only giggled more, and his heart melted down
He held her tight, and they stuck like glue
He loved his jewel, and she loved him too

Poem 298 - The Way I See

Image from Magpie Tales

I am not a scientist, but do I need to be one, to enjoy this night?
While they look through telescopes, at stars I probably can't spot
All I see out there, is a beautiful place, winking its joy - quiet and bright
For scientists see, the same I see, but not in the fashion I do

Nor do I need to be an artist, to stay up all night - painting a starry sky
For while they paint - they work - and while they work they don't enjoy
For me just looking, at such a surreal thing, makes time seem to fly
For artists see, the same I see, but not in the fashion I do

I might not notice the flower beds I stand upon
But it's not for them I've come here
For this beautiful sight, unlike flowers - is dead upon dawn
For maybe even flowers see, the same I see, but not in the fashion I do

I'd rather enjoy this one whole night, having the sky all to me
Such beautiful moments come rare - so look at it when you have eyes
I'd rather never be an artist or scientist and work my night lacking glee
For everyone sees, the same I see, but not in the fashion I do

For what they see, is just another night of gloomy toil
But for me it is a peaceful night, to think and watch
The twinkling stars, and gleaming moon - this night nobody can spoil
Perhaps it's only those out there who see what I see

Poem 297 - Dilemmas

Image link here

Always ends up on decisions we make
North or South? Left or Right?
We all know the maze of life isn't a piece of cake
And that's why we make most decisions in fright

    -x-x-x-

Got to choose wisely, yet can't be too slow
Tension breaks, as you don't know what to choose
Sweat pours down on my eyebrow
As on the chessboard I make a move to lose

   -x-x-x-

So while choosing your paths be firm and clear
Those dilemmas of yours, decide your tomorrow
For you choose the right key, then to success you're near
And when you choose the wrong, it might be a life of sorrow

Poem 296 - Life Is A Boat

Image from Magpie Tales

See that li'l boat yonder - bobbing away?
She can't come back until she's done her work for the day
Through tempests and typhoons she'll pass and go
But she won't leave todays' work for tomorrow
Life should be nothing but just the boat above
Never later, everything to be done now
She passes through her problems like they never prevail
And smiling to herself away she does sail
For life, is an easy road, just misted by a few potholes
And to walk through them safely, should be topmost on our goals
Follow that boat, as she laughs hard yet works harder
For in the end, on the road, we just want to reach farther

Poem 295 - Home a Heaven

Image link here

Home - a place where you can sleep as long as you want
A place where you are sure there is nothing to haunt
How I love running on that marble floor
And ringing the bell of the front door
Home sweet home my favorite weekend holiday
A place where our heart actually lay
The biggest support you get, your house gives
But the largest love - in one's home it lives
Enjoy your home, for you are one of the few who can
For it's homes not houses that are the nests of man

Poem 294 - Letting Go

Image link here

Is it easy -as letting go of balloons as to let go of your suspicions?
For your mind will always have those doubtful visions
For there is always someone you want to blame
From the bottom of your heart you want to bring out that name
Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong
But don't hold your suspicions for too long
You'll have too much to worry about, just let it go
Don't let your suspicions grow
Doubts will arise, push it aside
For you don't have that much time to bide
So let it go, and enjoy one more doubtless day
You never know where the end of your line may lay.

Poem 293 - The Secrets Of The Room

Image from Magpie Tales

'Clean your room' says my mum for the fifth time in a row
With its beautiful messiness my room does sadly glow
I pick up clothes of long ago, stuff it in the cupboard
Of this hard working job I already feel bored
So much junk under the bed! Where'd those shoes come from?
From photos and shoes to an empty bottle of rum
I sweep out everything from under the stinky bed
Tired of cleaning I lie down, panting and  half-dead
Room though much cleaner than before, looked much more worse
I fall asleep, forgetting my mum's warning curse
She walks in finding the room messier than ever
A tornado of words as I wake up with a shiver
This poor old boy, had to clean while skipping dinner
That day - both the junk in my room and I grew thinner

Poem 292 - Winter Days

Image from Bifocal Univision

Slippery driving, be cautious and alert
For an accident can happen through a little divert
I hate the cold, have a bad cough
Don't have the energy to have a good laugh
Throat pains, as I try to swallow
And even then my stomach feels hollow
Ah! Dear winter go away
You make my life dull as gray.

Poem 288 - The Current Youth

Image link here

It seems, we are the future, is it true?
And what are we supposed to do? I have no clue
Questions or riddles actually and I'm answer-less
If we are the future, the world might be a mess
With this generation, I have to cooperate?
And you expect us to wake up earlier than half-past eight?
And by telling me that we - the youth are the future makers, nice joke I say
We'll destroy it not create I'll bet any day
This generation, where technology has overtaken studies
And reading books is not as important as "hanging out" with 'buddies'
Will we change you think? I feel hopeless
We really seem to be in quite a big mess
Hopefully this will all be a big lie
I'm pretty sure you don't need to ask me 'why?'

Poem 285 - The Magic Of Childhood

Image link here

These few years, I'll hopefully enjoy to the most
After school days, who'll consider me a child?
Will I be considered small enough to be scared of ghosts?
And in a few years, I won't be able to act wild

Childhood has its magic in a beautiful way
Noticed by us almost at the last moment
Wont it be too late, to enjoy childhood to the fullest on the last day?
And when childhood's almost over, you don't know where it went

You won't be able to have a snow-fight
You won't be considered innocent when you go for a midnight snack
All these privileges, just as a child, it seems to give us so much might
And when you've realised you have wasted the magic of childhood, its too late to turn back

Pillow fights, sleepovers and what not for today
This special limited offer pack of  happiness and fun
Seems to be the most valuable yet shortest of joy's stay
And yet, when you notice it - childhood's almost done

Just almost done :D

Poem 284 - Happy B'day Sis!

Fourteen years have passed in a day i guess
For all this time has been so less
Wasn't it yesterday that we were fighting for the laptop?
And wasn't it mummy who made us stop?
Wasn't it yesterday you saw a lizard and started screaming
Is it really fourteen years? Or am I dreaming?
Time goes fast, but we never have the time to realise
By fighting and wasting time we were so unwise
But agree it, the amount we fought, was the best part of us
Shouting and hitting we created such a fuss
Fourteen years all the time we've been together - so much fun
I don't think we've forgiven each other for all the phan
Akka, I love you and I cant express it
But I'm pretty sure you understand every bit

Remember-?
Dropping nail polish on the floor?
Sending each other notes from under the door?
Me taking my revenge and irritating you?
Those good old days so precious and few

Dancing around mummy - and the longest hug competition
Thinking about it - what a wonderful vision
Happy eighteenth Akka
Though I've been there only for fourteen
I'm pretty sure your life was boring without me
Mine would be too without you - you see?
Happy birthday Akka...and may you have many more

Poem 276 - Lost In His World

Image from Magpie Tales

Lost in his world, he did not notice the waiter waiting
So many food items, but had to choose by price
Just a couple of notes in his hand he was clutching
So while choosing he had to be wise

The waiter grinned, looking at the boy lost in confusion
He coughed, to offer his help, but the boy absent-minded, shook his head
For he wanted to make his own decision
Lost in his world, still the waiters presence, in his thoughts did not spread

Poem 267 - Irritating Rust

Image link here

Rust is so irritating, seems to ruin stuff
From my cycle wheels to factory machines, I've had enough
And they turn stuff brownish-yellow not even red or blue!
Whether you scratch or you scrape, it will always stick like glue
Please rust, leave this world, take your colour away
Looking at you people, throw thing in dismay
You ruined my cycle bell, you ruined the engine of the car
Seriously you have to realize that you have gone a bit too far
~Gaurang Rao

Poem 266 - The Bearded House

Image link here

This empty house one day, decided to grow a beard
You might think this is quite weird
But he was determined, so he asked help from the plants below
They agreed and slowly on the house they did grow
But my god! What a beard he had grown, right under the sun
Creepers too had joined in for fun
He felt suffocated, wanted to trim it down
But the plants resisted, with scowls and frowns
After all he had asked help and they had done their duty
So the plants remained, changing the house's beauty

Poem 265 - Tiny Moving Speck

Image link here

I look down, to see a small black ant, crawling away
It moves so slowly, to reach its destination it'll take the whole day
On its back, a bit of fallen sugar it seems to be borrowing
Right under my nose, this tiny speck is moving

I decide to follow, on the ground I do kneel
It trudges on again, slowly carrying its meal
It stops in the middle, probably to take a break
Probably now with a bitter back ache

I follow no more as it goes through a cupboard crack
But one day for food he will be back
When the storage in his house is empty or low
Right under my nose, he might come or go

Poem 264 - The Terrifying Zombies

Image link here

I woke up one morning to see a strange sight
Outside, from the window, some creatures were having a fight
They looked like, Oh no! Could it be? Yes, zombies
And for a moment my heart did stop and freeze
It's not even Halloween, are these just wacky costumes?
Fighting with stick, axes and brooms
It was not just one or two, but so many of those weirdos
Fighting away, giving each other some blows
I screamed for my mother, I heard footsteps on the staircase
Relieved, I ran to the stairs, only to see zombies all over the place
I run to my room, lock the door, no use, the zombies break through
With twisted necks, and white eyes, their stare on me increasingly grew
I jumped out of the window, only to wake up with a scream
It was a nightmare after all, never a dream
For a moment my heart, the nightmare did steal
Thank god I'd woken up, for it had felt so real

Poem 254 - A Letter From A Laptop

Image link here

From, The Laptop

18th August 2013,

To, The Unkind Humans,

Dear humans, all day you click and stare away,
Not a moment away from me, you can stay,
But I actually don't get the happiness I need,
Even when I've become your place to play and read.
The way you treat me is not at all fair,
I really need my respect's share,
Why? You spend half the day next to me,
Clicking away, and banging all the buttons harshly.
I might have made life easy for you,
So please think about me too,
My dear keys and buttons, won't survive for long,
If you hit it with your hands so strong.
Please reply to this poor, dying soul,
For, you've made me feel that your heart is black as coal.

Poem 252 - Junk Ads And Mail

Letters and other junk to see
Bank letters, postcards and advertisements for free
Some important and some useless papers for me
Oh! Why can't these useless letters just be?

Useless letters form a different stack by yourselves please
Don't get blown away with the breeze
Stop flying, at once, you must cease
These junk letters never put me at ease

What a waste of paper these ads in the mail are
What am I supposed to do with college ads from so far
Or with the ad of the opening of a new restaurant and bar
Nowadays even kept between the wipers of my car

Oh! Junk mail, please  don't irritate me
I have more important things to see

Poem 248 - The Wheel

I was walking in, these woods, one day
When between some plants I noticed something lay
Would you believe it? It was a metal wheel so old
Today, it might be worth quite a bit of gold
So heavy, I couldn't lift the wheel
So to look at it, I had to kneel
So old, so huge must be from a war tank I had a guess
But it could be from one of the oldest carts no less
The oldness deduced from the amount of rust
I was the first one to touch it in some time, said the wheel's dust
I decided to let it lay there - for a few centuries probably
After all it was of no use to me
